Getting started

Cameras, stores and setup

Do I need to buy cameras?

You may be able to use cameras you already own. Send us the make and model so we can check compatibility.

My cameras are on the store's own network. Does that work?

It may need extra setup. RinVis needs to reach the camera. We can help you check the connection requirements.

How long does it take to set up?

Once the camera is connected, mark the shelf or bin you want to check. Depending on what's being read there will be some calibration or configuration once the area is isolated.

Can I try it without a camera?

Yes. Upload a picture to set up an area and see a reading.

Readings

What the readings tell you

Is it live video?

Currently all processes are readings on a schedule you set to meet your needs. Let us know if you have a custom request for analytics which requires video.

How often does it look?

Every five minutes, hourly, every six hours, daily or weekly, within the hours you choose.

What does the percentage on a bin mean?

It's a count of the visible area which has product or is bare. It's not a count of product but is suited for areas where products are not well organized or of the same size and shape. Try it on the bin level page.

What if a reading is wrong?

You can correct readings. The correction stays with that reading and future readings will be improved based on your input.

How far back does the history go?

Readings are kept. Pictures are not: a full picture is deleted within 90 days, and the reading taken from it still says what was on the shelf after the picture behind it has gone.

What happens when a camera is blocked, dark or knocked?

RinVis reports the problem and can alert you that the view needs attention.

Alerts

How you find out

How do alerts reach me?

By email, and in the alert inbox when you sign in. One email when an incident opens and one when the area recovers. The email carries the area, the rule and whether it broke or cleared, never a picture.

Will I get repeated emails?

An alert opens after repeated checks confirm a problem. It stays open until the area recovers, without a new email for every reading.

Can the store get alerts without an account?

Yes. Stores can receive alert emails at their own mailbox without signing in.

Can a rule apply only at certain hours?

Yes. Choose days and hours in the store’s time zone. Existing alerts stay open until the problem clears.

Do I have to write a rule for every store?

No. Apply rules to a company, district, group or store. New stores inherit the rules for their location, and individual areas can have extra rules.

Pricing

What it costs

What does RinVis cost?

Pricing is per camera, per month, based on what you check and how often. Contact us for a quote.

Is there a charge per store or per user?

No. Stores, users and rules are included.

Security and privacy

What happens to the pictures

What happens to people in the pictures?

They are pixelated before the picture is written anywhere. Every stored picture, every camera, with no setting that turns it off. No face recognition and no person tracking, ever, and no question asked of RinVis may be about a person. A person standing in front of a marked area is a reading that was skipped, not a reading about them.

How long are pictures kept?

A full picture is deleted within 90 days of being taken, a connection test within 7. A calibration, marking or correction is kept longer to improve the service and readings.

Who can see a picture?

Only a signed-in person whose access reaches the store it came from. There is no address that opens a picture, so there is nothing to forward, leak or guess, and no email ever carries one.

Is my company's data kept apart from other customers'?

Yes. Every store, camera, reading, rule and alert belongs to one company and is reachable only through it. Access reaches down the org chart and never across: somebody granted a district sees that district and nothing beside it, and an administrator cannot hand out more than they hold.

How do people sign in?

With a passkey or a security key as well as a password, on every account.

Is there a record of who changed what?

Yes. Who changed a rule, a camera or a marked area, and when, is kept alongside what it was before. Camera passwords are encrypted at rest, stored so they can be used and not so they can be read.
